She is currently President of the National Assembly of São Tomé and Príncipe, and is the first woman elected to this position during the second republic, as well as being vice-president of the ADI party. She was a mathematics teacher in primary and secondary schools from 1995 to 2015. She was secretary of the Bureau of the National Assembly from 2010 to 2018, then president of the Network of Women Parliamentarians of São Tomé and Príncipe from 2014 to 2018, and subsequently president of the third commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CPLP from 2018 to 2022.
