Ms. Lanein Blanchette, the Honourable Speaker of the federal parliament of Saint Christopher and Nevis, is a values-driven Attorney-At-Law. She graduated with Honours in her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice in 2008 and, inspired by her work in the Ministry of National Security, pursued a Bachelor of Laws at the University of the West Indies. Graduating with honours in 2015, she obtained her Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica in 2017.

 

After being called to the Bar in 2017, Lanein served as Crown Counsel in the Office of The Director of Public Prosecutions, handling federal criminal matters until June 2022. She is now the founder and Lead Counsel at Blanchette-Burke Law Chambers. Apart from her legal pursuits, Ms. Blanchette is an avid sports enthusiast, actively volunteering in netball and football. She serves as the President of the Aces Netball Club and is a member of the St. Kitts Nevis Sport Council. With a personal mantra to "finish the race strong, no matter how long or hard; slow and steady at all times," Ms. Blanchette continues to make significant contributions to both law and sports in her country.
